Schalkenmehren is a very beautiful and well-known tourist resort with approx. 600 inhabitants at an altitude of approx. 450 metres, located directly on the Maar (crater lake) of Schalkenmehren. In addition to the many water sports offers, swimming, fishing, boating etc., a variety of beautiful hiking trails is waiting for you around the lakes and in the region. One of the most beautiful cycle paths in Germany, the Maare - Mosel cycle path (former railway line to the Moselle), goes directly past Schalkenmehren.
